Whether it is a case of family successor or the professional successor, the matter needs to be looked in to and sorted out in the presence of the present ED / CMD. The days of family successors are either gone or are numbered. The present era is of professionalism. Of course exceptions may be there. One is not to swim with the times but must stay ahead of times to survive and stay in the market. Great leaders believe in change whereas managers only manage. The true leaders are innovators and mentors. They believe in trust building and empowering the workforce. We find in the world that the great companies survived because of its objective values and systems. Subjectivity has no or very little role for a very less time period as for survival and sustainability is concerned. It has been rightly said that even people at the helm of affairs and shareholders will leave the company one day, but the company goes on for ever. Take the case of Narayan Murthy, Ratan Tata and other giant organizations which survived after promoters left. The problem relates to the right successor. Sick people or companies if not regaining health will soon reach mortuary and cremation ground. One cannot be on OXYGEN & VENTILATOR FOR A LONG TIME. ONE MUST BE ON ONE SIDE AND THAT IS EITHER GREEN OR GREY ZONE.

SKILLING AND EMPOWERING IS VERY IMPORTANT. THE RETURNS IN ANY BUSINESS ARE LINKED TO RISK-BEARING CAPACITY AND DECISION MAKING ABILITIES. There is direct relationship between the returns factor and the risk / decision factor. On a graph there is positive curve going upwards from the origin point of X-axis and Y-axis. On one axis we can take return factor and on the other risk & decision factor. When we talk of risk and decision then these are to be scientifically judged, assessed and calculated. All your rich experiences must go in this EXERCISE. No problem as the gestation period and fruition lag may be long enough to test your patience, but the right path walk must be ensured even if the speed is low / slow. Delegation and decentralization are the success mantras. Empower your people / team to get results. Lead and believe your people. First of all one must believe in his capabilities then only one can believe others. Everything in this world commences from self.

GROOM, HONE AND POLISH MORE LEADERS. MENTORING IS VERY IMPORTANT. THE BEST LEADERSHIP IS EXAMPLARY AND DEMOCRATIC. GIVE YOUR TEAM PEOPLE FREEDOM TO TAKE DECISIONS AND BEAR RESPONSIBILITIES. AS THEY ARE THE FUTURE THOUGHT AND ACTION LEADERS.

TILL YOU ARE IN THE DANGER ZONE , YOU ARE IN THE GREEN ZONE. THE COMFORT ZONE IS GREY ZONE. To remove sickness of a business or a person one needs to enter the green zone, plough back your profits and energies in the system, and retrieve back the energies and profits already drained out of pipeline. RATHER ONE MUST INVEST MORE THAN WHAT IS TAKEN OUT OF THE SYSTEM AND THROUGH SKILLS.
